Interviewer: Luis, you’ve been a key player for Liverpool this season, especially in the attacking third. Can you describe your role in the team’s attacking strategy?

Luis Díaz: Yeah, thank you. My role is really to be direct and create danger on the wings. I love to take on defenders, make those runs behind the defense, and put in crosses or cut inside when the opportunity presents itself. My job is to stretch the opposition, drag them out of position, and create space for my teammates. The more I can do that, the more chances we can create, and the more dangerous we are in attack.

Interviewer: In the recent match, you were constantly causing problems for Southampton’s defense. How do you prepare for a game like that, especially when facing tight marking?

Luis Díaz: It’s always important to know the opponent’s strengths and weaknesses, and with Southampton, we knew they would try to be compact and defend deep. For me, it’s all about movement—constantly making runs, keeping the defender on their toes, and not giving them an easy read of what I’m going to do. In training, we work a lot on combination play, one-two passes, and finding those pockets of space in the final third. That helps me break down tight defenses.

Interviewer: You seem to have a natural ability to drift inside and create chances for others. How do you balance being a goal threat and a creator?

Luis Díaz: I always try to stay unpredictable. Sometimes I’ll cut inside and take a shot on goal, and other times I’ll look to pass to a teammate who’s in a better position. It depends on the situation, but both roles are important in the team’s attacking play. We have players like Mo Salah and Darwin Núñez who are always looking for crosses or through balls, so I try to put myself in the right positions to create for them. At the same time, if I see an opening, I’ll go for the shot. It’s all about making the right decision at the right moment.

Interviewer: You’ve had great partnerships with players like Mohamed Salah and Darwin Núñez. How important is it to have that understanding on the pitch?

Luis Díaz: It’s crucial. I have a great connection with Mo and Darwin, and that understanding really makes a difference when we’re attacking. We know where each other is going to be, and we often don’t need to look up to know where the ball is going. Mo’s ability to make those diagonal runs and Darwin’s strength in the air are things I try to use in my game. We’ve been working hard to develop that chemistry, and I think it’s showing more and more in our attacking play.

Interviewer: Liverpool’s attacking style is fast-paced and fluid. How do you maintain that intensity throughout the match?

Luis Díaz: It’s not easy, but it’s part of our game. The manager has made it clear that we need to press high and play with intensity from the first minute to the last. For me, it’s about maintaining focus and energy. I make sure to recover quickly, get back into position when we lose the ball, and always be ready to counter when we win it back. It’s a lot of hard work, but it’s the style of play that suits my strengths and the team’s approach. We know that when we’re pressing high, we’re more likely to win the ball back in dangerous positions, and that gives us more opportunities to score.

Interviewer: After a goal or assist, do you feel more pressure to keep performing at a high level?

Luis Díaz: Honestly, no. I feel motivated, not pressured. Scoring or assisting is always a great feeling, but I know my job doesn’t change. I’m always looking to improve, and every game is a new opportunity. The pressure to perform comes from within, from my desire to help the team succeed, but I don’t let it affect me negatively. I try to stay focused, work hard in training, and keep contributing in any way I can.

Interviewer: Looking ahead, what’s the next step for you in your development as a winger?

Luis Díaz: I want to continue developing my all-around game. I’m happy with my progress, but I always want to do more—be more consistent with my finishing, improve my decision-making, and add more assists to my tally. I’m still learning and adapting to the Premier League, but I’m excited for what’s ahead. I want to keep growing as a player and help my team achieve our goals this season.
